Under 17s

Longton Rugby Under 17s had a great season during 2011/2012, which culminated in them making the final of the Staffordshire Cup where they were unlucky to lose out to Stafford in a well-contested match.

The 2011/2012 squad was roughly comprised 50/50 with Under 17s and Under 16s - so half of the players we playing above their age group.

With those Under 17s players moving up to the senior squad for 2012/2013, the remaining Under 16s were to have formed the basis for this season's Under 17s.

However, player recruitment is always difficult for this age group, which sees young people moving on from school and into college and employment.

With insufficient numbers for an Under 17s team for the 2012/2013 season, the players that are aged 16 will train and play with the Under 16s squad and then will join the senior squad once they reach 17.

If you are aged 16 or 17 and are interested in playing for Longton Rugby - either for the Juniors or the Seniors - why not come down to the Club on a Wednesday evening at 7pm or a Sunday morning at 10am and have a look at what we can offer.
