Longton RUFC - Progress of the Development of Trentham Fields - 2nd February 2008

The construction of the Clubhouse is running about two weeks late at present due to the foul weather and we are looking at the back half of April for completion. However, as many people have seen for themselves some great things are happening:

1. The roof is nearly complete.

2.The windows are all in .

3. First fixing is well underway.

4. Water and electricity are now permanently connected.

5. Interior Designs have been received and are being considered, including furniture, carpet and decorations.

6. The main pitch and training are is now floodlit.

7. The ATP is open for use. To book call Doug Finney on 01782 396579.

8. A Sports Development Oficer has been appointed to market and manage the ATP and grass pitches. His name is Cameron Lacey and he will start at the end of February.

We have never needed volunteers more than we need them now . Don't be shy.

Longton RUFC - Progress of the Development of Trentham Fields - 11th November 2007

A great deal has happened since my last report , and much progress has been made.

The Clubhouse is looking great and up to 1st floor level ,under the watchful eye of none other than John Wainright, who wields a nifty trowel .[and a few other things !] John is really wowed by how the building looks so far. We are getting down to the finer detail of the furnishings and finishes and understanding what we will have. In the next week the 1st floor beams will go in and we’re on our way towards the first target of getting the roof on by Christmas.

Services are at long last coming on stream, with the final electricity connection at the end of next week and hopefully water not far behind, as the service pipe is already in. That will bring to an end the hard graft of using the stand pipe and the generator, which has fallen on the shoulders of a few.

Pitch floodlights are now fully operational, albeit running from the generator this week. The cabling is in for the training area lights and the light units themselves are on order and should be installed in the next 6 weeks or so.

The Artificial Turf Pitch is almost finished, and having seen a completed one myself at Moseley RFC I know you will be blown away by it. It will be available for hire to all comers from the New Year at £30per hour in the evenings and weekends and £20 per hour at other times. Advance bookings are now being taken. The Official Opening , organised by Barclays [by invitation only] is being held on 29th November.

We will be advertising for a Sports Development Officer very soon who’s job it will be to manage the ATP and organise coaching in and out of the Club for all sports.
Not long after, we will be advertising for a Club Manager.

Is this exciting or what? It is a good time to remind ourselves, that these brilliant new facilities have only come by hard work and we should all respect them and encourage others to do the same. Helping wherever we can with the many jobs of running the club are just as vital now as in the past. Keeping the club, the grounds and the changing rooms tidy and clean is the responsibility of all of us.
