Our long serving Chair, Philip Myatt, was intending to stand down at our AGM but as this been delayed because of the pandemic and we don’t yet know when it can take place, he has decided to stand down now with immediate effect.
Philip has been our Chair for some 9 years and has helped to steer the club through some very difficult times. He brought a lot of business acumen to the cub which was much needed, extremely helpful and will be sorely missed. In particular he was instrumental in setting up Longton Rugby Football Club Ltd., and it’s wholly owned and reformed subsidiary company Renascor Ltd., which has proved to be very tax efficient for the club.
It is unreasonable to expect anyone to be our Chair for 9 years and we all owe Philip a big debt of gratitude. I trust that when you next bump into him at our club you will personally thank him for his service.
In addition to identifying a new Chair the club now faces a whole new set of extremely difficult challenges post the pandemic. The club’s existing Board of Directors will continue to operate on your behalf until we can hold our delayed AGM and a new set of officers can then be elected for2020/21.
Hopefully our club will be able to open again soon and I look forward to seeing you all then
Take Care and be Safe
